Years of conflict have left vast areas contaminated with explosive remnants of war, posing daily threats to civilians, and restricting humanitarian access.
Syrian civilians identify landmines and unexploded ordnance as major barriers to safe return, farming, and rebuilding after years of conflict. Communities report that contaminated land, homes, and infrastructure prevent recovery. Expanding survey, clearance, and risk education is seen as essential to enable humanitarian access, restore livelihoods, and support safe reconstruction.
